Don’t be everyone.

If you hear more than three non-expert people  telling you what you are doing is dangerous, weird, bad for your health, your back, your knees, that you have changed…. Then comfort yourself! These are signs to tell you you are on the right path.

Yes you heard that right. Too many people telling you what you are doing is weird, then you are probably doing something right.

However! There is a caveat…. if you are doing kung fu against trees because you believe you are developing a supernatural technique to defeat UFC’s top contenders… you might be delusional. But if what you are doing comes from reliable sources, and you are measuring improvement, and moving toward your goals, then keep going.

If what you are doing is yielding results, keep going.

If you are doing what the best are doing, and the mediocre naysayers aren’t. Keep going.

If all your family and friends that are one step behind are all yelling you should stop. Listen. Because they love you. Think. And if you’re getting results, living your dream, and still nice to them. Keep going.

No one normal wants to take the hard path. No one normal wants to do the hard things. When you know its hard, you feel its hard, and you still keep going. And you know it will be even harder tomorrow.

It takes courage to do just that. It takes even more courage to shut your ears off and trust your instincts. If you know you are on the right path then please don’t let anyone tread on your dreams. You deserve to trust yourself.

Every year of his career, Dorian Yates hid in his basement Birmingham gym for 12 months and hatched that monster we know as The Shadow.

Ronnie Coleman was already a stud, genetic freak, but pushed the boundaries of his body, won 8 Olympia’s, and now has had more surgeries than Cher.

Goggins was no one until he took his pain and made it fuel for his career as a navy seal. Spirall fractures in his legs, kidney failures, nothing stopped him.

You need spirit, commitment and a will of steel to be anyone at anything. And you need it have it for 10 years, 15 years, 20 years before anything comes of it. You think you worked hard last month? Someone has been hacking at it for the past 12 years, every day for 10 hours, and is still going at it. They may have less talent than you, but the sheer number of hours he spent ploughing away makes him, by nature, a better human being than you are.

And if you suck today, know that 1 year from now you’ll be better, 5 years from now you’ll be a monster, 10 years from now you’ll be a master, and 20 years from now you’ll be a legend. So if you love what you do. If You live, eat, train, read, and sleep what you love doing, if you know what you are doing is right for you and the world; then keep going.

Whether its’ a diet, a training program, a career, go do your research. Test it for a year, and if you are getting results keep going. If not keep the direction and change the method. Let no one that has not walked the path tell you what to do.

If you listen and do what everyone tells you to, you’ll just be like everyone. Do you.

And take it easy.

Morgan.
