My girlfriend and I are going to try and stay away from social media on weekends.

We have been implementing a social media fast from 10:30pm onwards, and we’ve deeply reconnected. Simply chatting, and playing around, having fun by cutting off our webilical chord.

The issue we have on weekends is that we REST. We barely do anything because we just want to exercise, lie around, and go for walks.

What we started doing was leaving our phones at home when we went on these walks. They usually last anything between 2 and 3 hours, and we just wander around Paris, maybe do a bit of shopping. But we mostly just walk around and chat.

And it does a great deal for us, because we actually spend time just talking. And we both love it. When the weather’s crappy, I miss those walks. And what tends to happen is that we just sit next to each other and zombie out on our phones for hours and hours, not talking to each other, not doing anything interesting or productive, just zoning out on cats, singers, instamodels, makeup artists, and comedians. `

We realised this sucked.

So my girlfriend suggested we simply not go on social media on weekends. As in no Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Linkedin, or any post or sharing apps on our phones. Games and text messages allowed.

That’s the plan.

I’ll let you know how it goes 😀

What are you doing to keep your relationship alive?

Morgan
