Just a reminder.
Yes, you are. Probably not for a while, but that is where you’re headed.
Death used to be omnipresent. So much so that a saying « memento mori » was developed even in times of victory to remember that no one escapes the clutches of time.
Artists would carry skulls with them to press them, and make sure that the work was done.
Every day you live is a day less you will be living.
Why am I so gloomy all of a sudden? I am actually being outrageously positive.
The chances of you being born is 1/400 000 000 000 000, or 1/400 trillion. Just to be clear, the chances of winning the lottery are 1 million times less likely. So if you won the lottery 30 times a day for 100 years, you might get close to the chances of being born.
This is motivation.
This is what makes you realise just how lucky you are to be alive. And on top of that, you are a human being, born in the most peaceful era humankind has ever seen.
If you are reading this and you are doing something you don’t want to be doing with your life right now, or you are indecisive as to if you should take a lap of faith to do what you want to do… do it.
I don’t know about you, but every time I took a leap of faith in my life, that I decisively did something ballsy, something with risk, it always paid off. Even if it didn’t work out positively, I walked away proud I actually tried it.
The risk is 0. There is only upside in this life. The worst that can happen is you die, and that happens anyway.
So how about you do what you actually want to do? Not what you think other people might think is coolt, why you actually want to do.
Go on that trip, start writing that book, change job, start that company you’ve thought about for the past ten years. Go see that expo, tell that girl you like her. You shouldn’t care what other people think. Yes they may mock you, yes they might try to pull you down where they lay because it’s hard for them to see you try.
« I regret that I » … is usually followed by DIDN’T.
Yes it’s scary, but is it as scary as a lifetime of wondering IF?
I wish you could feel what I feel right now. I wish you could feel how grateful i am to be alive. I wish you could realise ho much I want to share everything I am and I know with everyone.
So yes, you are going to die, so start the life you want to live.
Morgan.
