The blog is open again!
I took a break over the holidays because of several things. I was supposed to go to Bali this holiday but fate decided differently for my girlfriend and I. She came down with heart palpitations, nausea, vertigo, and brain fog. She basically spent 3 weeks lying down, sleeping, losing 4kg in the process, and having a hard time going for a walk outside.
Stress Is The Killer
She is a financial auditor, and this year her workload increased significantly as two seniors left for other jobs.
My girlfriend doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t go out because she cherishes her 8 hours of sleep, goes to the gym 2 to 4 times a week, eats clean, she is 25 years old and doesn’t feel stress. Or so we thought. After seeing a cardiologist, three doctors, five different blood and sample tests, her diagnosis seems to be a case of severe anxiety.
She doesn’t love her job. She does it because that’s what she was trained for. Not quite knowing what she wanted to do with her life, she took the most general path possible that eventually ends up taking you down the accounting route here in France. She does find things that interest her and does the job, but this year has been harsher on her that she imagined. 5 days after being on holiday, it all came crashing down.
Out of everything in my life, she was the most important thing to me. Her health, her wellbeing. If she hadn’t been taking good care of herself, who knows what would have happened this year. And for what? A job?
If you think that health is NOT the most important aspect of your life, try having a loved one get sick and see how it feels. Get a nice strong flu and tell me you wish you weren’t sick. Try and tell me that your job is more important than being healthy, strong and happy.
Health FIRST
What we need to understand is Health First.
You work to earn your keep in society, so you can survive, procreate and birth the next generation. We aren’t all lucky enough to do what we really want to do. It’s either because we lack a specific talent, or because we weren’t taught to look for what we’re good at, and have the world judges what you do as a definition of who you are.
Yes I believe that finding a meaningful job, a meaningful task to complete and produce something of value to share with others is the best way to earn a living, but if that is NOT the case for you, don’t make it into something. Don’t kill yourself for job that is meaningless to you. Health FIRST.
If you don’t eat well, exercise, sleep, relax, and spend some quality time with your loved ones, you will regret it sooner or later. If your job keeps you from doing that, quit it.
Getting people stronger, leaner, healthier does matter.
Why? Because most of them don’t realise just how important it is to be as healthy as possible to face whatever may come your way. Maybe you WANT to do so, but just don’t really know how, or just don’t have the habit.
Exercising is as important as brushing your teeth. If someone told you they hadn’t brushed their teeth for ten years you would tell them how awful it is. That’s exactly how I feel when someone tells me they’ve done nothing for their body for the same length of time.
I’m here to help, because I believe this is the most important thing I can do for you, and the most important thing you can do for yourself.
So please take care.
